So, I went and was an evil pirate and popped this guy running a mission in low sec in his typhoon. As I poor over the wreak some competitors drop out of warp and get the drop on me, and I go pop.
Well I'm all flashy red with global agro, yet I get kill rights to 1 of the 3 in the pirate gang (the other 2 were flashy red from sec status so that may be why I didn't get kill rights to them), and to the poor carebare I popped, as he was on my kill mail.
Now my understanding from online help is that only people who are on my kill mail and got global agro for doing so would result in me being granted kill rights.
What gives? As I had global agro I didn't think I should get kill rights to anyone. how did that happen? I'm obviously missing some aspect to this game mechanic. As a bonus the mission dude has no kill rights on me, I guess him showing up on my loss mail counted as him fulfilling his kill rights.
But hey I'm happy cuss now I get to locate the mission dude and pop him in high sec.

yes killing is satisfying, and I will pop this mo fo in high sec. but the question wasn't really should I go kill him, as obviously I should.
The question is how did I go and pop this guy in low sec and yet come away with kill rights on him? can I repeat such a wonderful thing? |

Originally by: Yashiri as long as you don't shoot back/generally agress the person shooting you and they pod you, you get kill rights. it's not rocket science...
as the link to the help that I posted in the OP clearly states
Quote: Note: no kill rights are given for being pod-killed.
and I have not podded or been podded by any of the individuals that I have kill rights on, or have kill rights on me. I'd say it is not about if "they pod you".
And for not being rocket science it would seem you clearly don't get it. :-p
Edit: And this isn't a question on how the kill rights are meant to work, that is quite clear. I'm saying I ganked the crap out of this guy and got global agro. Then a few minutes later I died in another fight and he is on my loss mail for the lil bit of damage he did in self defense. And I now have kill rights to him. He did not shoot first cuss I got global agro, I shot hit him first.
